Mastering the Art of Explaining Your Product’s Value

A cheap product will be bought without much thought. But an expensive one requires a clear explanation of its value.

Imagine a scale. On one side, you have a hypothetical 1000 euros. On the other side is your expensive product. The customer clearly understands the value of 1000 euros. They know that for this amount, they can buy winter clothes, shoes, and school supplies for their child. They can easily picture the tangible benefits of that money. But the value of your product? That’s still unclear to them.

Now, on the other side of the scale is your product, priced at the same 1000 euros—let's say it's your course. For most people, that's a significant sum. They might think: "With 1000 euros, I can prepare my child for school for a year, buy a plane ticket for a vacation, or get cosmetic procedures with clear, tangible benefits." But what exactly will they get from your product? Will it provide benefits equivalent to those other choices?

Our goal is to tip the scales in favor of your product. So how do we do that?

To achieve this, you need to follow three key steps:

  1. List the benefits – Clearly explain what the customer will receive. If it’s a package of services, break down everything included and compare how much those services would cost separately elsewhere.

  2. Highlight the problems your product solves – Be specific about the issues your product or service addresses. List those problems and show how your offer provides solutions.

  3. Mention what they’ll lose if they don’t buy – Outline what the customer will miss out on by not making the purchase. Try to include at least three impactful points.

By following these steps, you’ll help your customer see that your product offers value that exceeds the price. Now, they’ll have a clear understanding of the value and personal benefit they’ll gain.

When I create websites for my clients, I use these same principles. Even cold prospects who are unfamiliar with your product can instantly grasp its value when they visit your site—not just its price. This approach consistently leads to higher conversion rates than average.
